TECHNICAL DATA SHEET (TDS) & PROCESS GUIDE Standard: Uddeholm DIEVAR / DIN 1.8418 Premium / High-Toughness Hot Work

1. Chemical Composition (wt%)

Element C Si Mn Cr Mo V Fe
Specification 0.35–0.40 0.10–0.30 0.40–0.60 5.00–5.40 2.20–2.50 0.50–0.70 Balance

2. Welding Parameters: Laser vs. TIG

⚔ Laser Welding 0.2–0.6 mm

Preheat Temp Room Temp – 100°C
Pulse Power 120–220 A
Shielding Gas Argon ≄99.99% (3–6 L/min)
HAZ Impact Ultra-narrow HAZ, preserving supreme ductility

šŸ”„ TIG Welding 0.8–2.4 mm

Preheat Temp 320°C – 400°C Mandatory
Welding Current 40–120 A (DCEN)
Shielding Gas Argon ≄99.99% (8–12 L/min)
Post-Heat Slow cooling followed by immediate tempering at 500°C

šŸ’” Key Repair & Operation Instructions:

  • Unrivaled Resistance to Heat Checking: Low silicon and optimized Cr-Mo-V chemistry provides far superior ductility and hot yield strength compared to standard H13.
  • Preheating Control (TIG): Maintain strict preheating at **320°C–400°C** before TIG welding to eliminate cold cracking along the heat-affected zone.
