TECHNICAL DATA SHEET (TDS) & PROCESS GUIDE Standard: AISI 420 / DIN 1.2083 / JIS SUS420J2

1. Chemical Composition (wt%)

Element C Si Mn Cr V Fe
Specification 0.35–0.45 0.30–0.80 0.30–0.80 12.00–14.00 0.20–0.40 Balance

2. Welding Parameters: Laser vs. TIG

⚡ Laser Welding 0.15–0.6 mm

Preheat Temp Room Temp – 100°C
Pulse Power 120–220 A
Shielding Gas Argon ≥99.99% (3–6 L/min)
HAZ Impact Extremely low HAZ, prevents Cr depletion

🔥 TIG Welding 0.8–2.4 mm

Preheat Temp 250°C – 350°C Mandatory
Welding Current 35–100 A (DCEN)
Shielding Gas Argon ≥99.99% (8–12 L/min)
Post-Heat Slow cooling in insulation blanket

💡 Key Repair & Operation Instructions:

  • High Corrosion Resistance: High chromium content (~13% Cr) protects repaired areas against corrosive resins (PVC, UP, acid-releasing plastics) and damp ambient conditions.
  • Crack Prevention (TIG): Martensitic stainless steel S136 is crack-sensitive during TIG repair. **Preheating to 250°C+ is critical** to prevent cold cracking.
